“Painting on photographs feels a lot like reviewing a memory in my mind. I remember being in that place and taking the picture, but the print rarely conveys the feeling I get from my memories. So I try to translate that feeling into paint.”

“There are a myriad of paths one can take with a given piece, change the colour, the drawing, the feeling it communicates. Initially when working with these photographs my intention was to paint several versions of each and choose only one to exhibit. But then I realised they’re all valid. They can be viewed as a series, but also each one can stand on it’s own.”
